President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (PBBM) recently led the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Complex (KAMIC) in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, marking a major milestone for the Philippines’ agricultural sector (The Philippine Herald).
This first full‑scale agricultural machinery manufacturing facility will be built on a 20‑hectare site in Barangay Kalikid Sur, through a partnership between the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (KAMICO), and the local government (DA.gov.ph).
What the Complex Will Do
The facility is designed to assemble and manufacture a range of agricultural equipment—including tractors, harvesters, planters, and seeders—tailored to the needs of Filipino farmers, reducing dependence on imported machinery and high equipment costs (The Philippine Herald).
Long‑Term Development
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026 and roll out in multiple phases, starting with Semi‑Knocked Down (SKD) assembly, moving to Complete Knocked Down (CKD), and later full manufacturing (DA.gov.ph).
Jobs and Economic Boost
The project is expected to generate thousands of jobs for local workers and strengthen investor confidence. Alongside the groundbreaking, the government also distributed agricultural machinery and inputs to 44 farmer cooperatives in Central Luzon, supporting over 22,000 hectares of hybrid rice production (PIA.gov.ph).
